555 Triangle Waveform Generator
Feb 6th
The circuit is a triangle waveform generator that uses as few parts as possible. A 555 timer IC, 2 resistors and two capacitors make the triangle wave. The IC is connected in a 50% duty-cycle astable square-wave oscillator circuit. The square-wave output is fed from pin 3 of the IC to an RC shaping circuit. (more…)
Electronic Bicycle Horn
Feb 6th
This simple electronic bicycle horn circuit uses only one gate of a 4093 quad 2-input NAND Schmitt trigger, U1, conected in a simple, low frequency, square-wave oscillator circuit. The oscillator’s output, at pin 3, drives the gate of Q1. The drain of that FET drives a small horn speaker. (more…)
Triangle Wave Generator
Jan 13th
This triangle wave generator is made with a trigger Schmitt that converts a triangle wave into a rectangular one used to charge and discharge a capacitor through current sources. The positive current source T1 provide the charging and T2 the discharging. The trigger Schmitt is made from OR-EXCL gates IC1a and IC1b. (more…)
Voltage Doubler Circuit with 555
Dec 24th
This dc voltage doubler circuit produces a voltage that is twice its voltage supply. This is useful when a higher voltage level is needed out of a single lower voltage power supply. Since the current consumption levels are low in such cases, the circuit can be built with minimal resources. The electronic circuit is basically a square wave generator using the common LM555 timer IC. It is followed by a final stage made of transistors T1 and T2. The actual doubler circuit is made of D1, D2, C4 and C5 components. (more…)
Audio frequency generator
Sep 27th
This audio frequency generator is a triggered signal generator. When a positive pulse of about 6 volts (minimum) is fed to the circuits input , a modulated audio signal comes out of the output. The signal pattern is similar to a bird’s chirp. The pulse width of the trigger signal must be a minimum of 2.5 miliseconds. The voltage supply is between 9 volts and 20 volts. The circuit consumes about 2 mA or less. If the circuit is apllied as a morse code signal generator, replace C1 with a 0.1 μF capacitor. (more…)
Electronic Siren with Multitone
Sep 24th
This multitone electronic siren is useful for burglar alarms, reverse horns, etc. It produces five different audio tones and is much more earcatching than a single-tone siren. The circuit is built around popular CMOS oscillator-cum-divider IC 4060 and small audio amplifier LM386. IC 4060 is used as the multitone generator. A 100μH inductor is used at the input of IC 4060. So it oscillates within the range of about 5MHz RF. (more…)
