soldering ironHere is a simple 12 V inverter for using a small soldering iron (25W, 35W, etc) in the absence of mains supply. It uses eight transistors and a few resistors and capacitors. Transistors T1 and T2 (each BC547) form an astable multivibrator that produces 50Hz signal. The complementary outputs from the collectors of transistors T1 and T2 are fed to pnp Darlington driver stages formed by transistor pairs T3-T5 and T4-T6 (utilising BC558 and BD140). The outputs from the drivers are fed to transistors T7 and T8 (each 2N3055) connected for push-pull operation. Use suitable heat-sinks for transistors T5 through T8.

2N3055 is a single diffused NPN silicon transistor in TO 3 case.
The collector is electrically connected to the case.
The 2N3055 transistor is particularly suitable for use in powerfull AF output stages and in stabilized power supply units.

This a 24 Watt Class A Amplifier circuit made from discrete semiconductors like 2N3055. This audio amplifier can drive up to 24W Class A into 8 Ohm speaker with an audio bandwidth of 100mHz to 100kHz flat. The input power is 305mV for 24W output into 8 Ohm (33dB gain) and the THD is very low.

This is a simple 60W class B power amplifier. This audio amplifier can work from 30 to 60V with the maximum input voltage around 0.8 – 1V. It is built with the well known 2N3055 and can deliver up to 80W on a 4Ω speaker.
